Today I worked on Smart Surfing. I learnt that using explore can be very effective. I found it hard to voice type with heaps of people around. I found it easy to Use they explore button. 24 Hour Digital Footprint.

We were learning about our 24 Hour Digital Footprint. I learnt that
I found it easy to paste in the images and the links.
I found it hard to copy my work when hilighting my work.
I really enjoyed learning some new tricks/skills.
Next time I need to refresh my pages more and go a little bit faster.

Seeking Help

Today we are learning about screenshots and who we can send it to if it is not good or hate online.
    So if we see something online that we think is not so good we would screenshot the page and save it to our folder and sens it to our teachers or a parent so that the can help us if someone is being bad online.

We also learnt other ways we could stop hate or trolls like remove, block, comfort them and more.

Collaborating Online

Collaborating Online.

We were learning how to Collaborate online. I really enjoyed commenting on people's blog eg (feedback) I found it hard to communicate with comments on google slides and docs. It was easy to add backgrounds and do edits to posts to make them look more effective. Next time I need to work on commenting to my buddy.

My full license application

My Full License Application.

Hi I'm a year six student who loves to share my knowledge and well being and to contribute to everyday tasks. In my opinion everybody is an empowered student in their own way because we are all different and we have our own special attributes and skills. Today I'm going to identify some capabilities I have developed.

How I have engaged my learning.
This year I have had a lot of learning opportunities .Within these opportunities I have been efficient at my work and have developed some new skills that I can take to the next level.  I am a responsible person who can be trusted and relied upon with ease.  I am respectful to my teachers and people in authority.  I love to collaborate with people because I want to participate in their side of the situation.  Reliable - being committed to practice and  being flexible with my decisions I make.  Challenges - doesn't matter if I am providing something or if Im encouraging someone I will take on the challenge and I will put myself back in the learning pit so I can then identify were I am. Time management - managing my school work that I have processed and created.To have all my equipment ready and to
ensure everything is accomplished.  I love having a challenge because it is about being in the learning pit and the sensation after you have finished  is awesome. 


What has helped me.
The workshops that have been provided they have challenged and helped me with my goals.They have made a proper picture that  is very authentic but i'm still in the learning pit because i am still adapting to things as well.I am doing these workshops so i can then engage my learning strategies and be able to  use them in another time.I am stepping out of my comfort zone a bit more and I can express myself without having tension.So now when I work I want to be more infectious with fellow students when I'm doing my work.These workshops have made me more diligent and to be prepared for anything.


Conclusion
I would love to be a mentor at Makauri School.  To have the opportunity to be a good role model to other students and show that I am approachable, supportive, encouraging, friendly and fun.

By Melody Lamb And i achieved my full license from this google docs. If you are wondering what a full licence is i can explain. In the hub we have licences learner, restricted, full.We all so have bird houses and groups of 4.In my group is Declan, Goergie, parker and of course me.We have a sheet of paper and on that paper is different coloured boxes, each one has a different meaning eg (red means organization. ) So each week we would get in our groups and talk about one pacific topic. We each would read it out and say or explain why we think we are capable of it or things that we can reflect about. At the end of each talk there are little strips of paper that say what you just talked about eg ( respect. ) So if your group thinks you can get the sticker and put it on your bird house then that is 1 out of 5. Everyone starts on learning licence and once they get 3 they can move up to restricted, once they get 5 they can move up to full licence but to actually move to full licence you need to write a google doc explaining why you think you should have a full licence or stating reasons why and how. eg ( i am a great mentor and put people in the learning pit by asking really hard questions about their learning.) You would then share it with your teacher and they will print it out if they think it is up to their own standard but if they think you need to work on it they will comment on something that you can work on to make it better. If they do print it out one afternoon the hub will get together and they will read it out loud to the hub and they will say do you think this person should have a full licence, put your hand up. If the do you have achieved your goal.

Spooky writing trapped in a haunted room

Engulfed In tension.

I was laying in bed, immediately a creak echoed through the room.
( Suddenly shock struck me, petrifying me).
Cautiously tugging the sheets, squinting my eyes shut, my emotions drained away. (was I safe?)
Staring up at the pitch black ceiling, an emerging draft blew on my face, causing me to freeze. The door slammed, there was a pause.
I could see the moon outside disappearing behind a curtain of mist.
The tension pounded on  in my mind.  I felt something grip my arms and the room grumbled heavily.



I collapsed and felt myself being dragged along the floor.My skin ran away.  I had encountered a humongous alarming monster. A wave of anxiety washed through my body. The window shattered and shards of glass lay on the ground.  Screams jumped out of my mouth. I clambered to the door while footsteps were chasing me in time. Goose Bumps spread all over me.
A huge gust of roaring wind swept in making books fly and land on the damp ground. Unease turned into terror.  I gripped the door handle tight.
Furious voices snapped at me,I couldn’t fathom why. I swung  open the door open to expose the hallway. Shadows lurked behind me.                           
Image result for haunted houseThis is my spooky story.( I used some ideas of a book that we were reading in the Hub.( It was called Young Nicks Head, based around Gisborne. So we had to write a story about something really scary, anything we wanted. The story is about a girl who is trapped in a haunted room and she finally escapes the room.In my story i tried uses some detailed words or sentences like her enthusiasm drained away.

. How to Make a Sustainable Environment

We were describing how to improve they ways we think.Eg( learning for sustainability) Basically how to incorporate new things into our school.

The exciting part for me was to be challenged by trying to create new things to help the school.Extending ideas so we could come up with a variety of results.

I think we can learn more about the school so we can improve the way we do things in everyday life.I want to investigate more questions because some questions can affect the way we use things like power equipment or general supplies.

Thankyou hub teachers

Thank you Mr.S,Mr.k and Mrs J
Thank you for the past few weeks they have been exciting and enjoyable.
When we are learning something new you always put your time and effort to explain and reflect so we understand.
I love the fact that when we are on the matt and you have asked a question you would include everybody's opinion even if they didn't have there hand up.
You have made my learning choices more flexible and challenging.
For the rotations I think it was a great idea to let us kids choose what station we think our learning is at and what we are capable of and not so much.
So it's not always you teachers choosing it for us and your always keeping us the best we can be by being better than before.
You teach us so many amazing skills that we use not only in the school but anywhere we go and there's always time for fun.

At the begInnIng of the year my goal was organIsatIon.To be able to do paragraphs with ease and to lInk them from begInnIng and end.When we dId our wrItIng Mr.S marked me as level 6 for paragraphs which I thInk I have excelled. Now my new goal Is to use  punctuatIon throughout my sentences.But now I have accomplished organisation, I stIll thInk I can take it  to the next level.Even now that It Is a strength.My prevIous wrItIng has had lots of effort to try and IdentIfy everythIng that  I could and more that I can achIeve.I am tempted to verIfy my work and be more actIve  towards my work.I thInk I can develop some new skIlls as well and when I do I can be more flexIble wIth my learnIng

My goal Is to break the 2:00 mInutes In basIc facts .My Idea was to do a decImal sheet to challenge me more because of my speed .To read the questIon more.
So I understand the meaning of the questIon so I can work It out wIthout havIng the need to change It. Our  adjust It.SometImes I can get stuck on a very sImple questIon that I do know but I can overthInk It because I am trying a bIt to hard  wIthIn the present tense.ThIs sometImes effects me because I then get sad that I can not do the answer.But It Is rIght In front of me.

Your task was to redraft your original poem on part of camp using what you have learnt. You may choose to write about a different part of camp if you wish:
For you, what is the difference between a poem and a recount? Poems are short but have heaps of detail and captures 1 moment in time.But a recount is longer and is about ( a trip )
What have you learnt about figurative language since you first wrote your poem on March 22nd?How  you can describe something as something else like if a hospital is very gross and scary you could call it like a garden because gardens can be untamed and messy.

My reflection on what has changed in my writing so far.
Mrs Johnstons video and the rotation that we did. Recrafting Mr.S poem in our way.I liked it because you had to delete words and add better words to make it make more  sense. Mrs Johnstons workshop because we were by a tree so we could look at it to compare parts of the tree to our body parts ( My roots were my legs ) .
My peers reflection on what has changed so far  Her range of descriptive words are very well chosen. I can see so much improvement in her 2nd piece to her 1st.


My Two pieces of Poetic Writing
March 22nd 2018 The Burma trail.
As the night passed by a shivering breeze rummaged around in my hair.
Gripping the rope fearnley voices were messing with my mind
.It was as blank as a new world was begging.Haunted laughs echoed amongst the chilled air.
Loud screams moments were rare unexpected people had such a tickling fear.Moments were trapped masks starring deeply.My eyes were shocked.
April 4th 2018
 As the night passed by an ice cold breeze numbed my face.
The night was like a nightmare coming true. Around me faces were rocks.
Gripping the rope holding on for dear life.
Hearing voices every footstep.
Creatures were popping out.
It was so dark like a new world was begging.
Moments were rare like a flash of lighting.
The moon was playing hide and go seek while laughs raised up.
Masks linked throughout the woods.
I was like a fragile vase against a bull.
My heart was running away.
I was paralysed at the sight but out of the corner of my eye a light shone through the foggy air.
I could finally breathe.
Moments were stained in my head.
What I need to do next as a result of where my writing is now.: SometImes I think I overwrIte but I don't even notice I have so I am focusing on that.For next tIme.

Welcome to my blog

My name is Melody. I go to Makauri School and am in Kereru hub.  I live in New Zealand on the East Coast. I love  surfing at  Wainui Beach and playing football. I have a lot to do with Tolaga Bay. My aroha goes to my family they have tangata ataata and heaps of potential amongst each other.
I love dancing. I am I librarian as well. To be confident you have to excel with excellence.  Leadership is a strength  for me it  has built up my courage.I enjoy that when you have finished with a student you can see the sensation on their face and that they have finally understood the process of the task,
and that they have accomplished it, and that they have been challenged the past couple of weeks. Challenges are really helpful to me because the fact they make you think about your work more than average so the detailed side really. This year my ultimate goal is I'm trying to get an award at the end of the the year to say I was a Makauri School student and that I can and that they have accomplished it, and that they have been challenged the past couple of weeks. Challenges are really helpful to me because the fact they make you think about your work more than average so the detailed side really. This year my ultimate goal is I'm trying to get an award at the end of the the year to say I was a Makauri School student and that I can be remembered and cherished over the years.  To get this I have to make mistakes and be challenged as well. This year in my opinion I have been a good mentor for some students.
This year I am looking forward to the school production and speeches. I have got chosen to be a leader with Briana. I can't wait to fundraise and help the school build donations and fun days like crazy hair day and more. I can't wait for the next two terms ahead. I love exploring and having fun with my friends. I appreciate my teachers time and their commitment to us students. I am very grateful. Makauri School is such a fun place to be and strive. Nga mihi.
